Thank you both for your help on a number of issues regarding the property me and my wife will now be buying. Just to let you know, we did manage to get a price reduction on the property, albeit $1000 (not the full amount but all helps in the end).
The contract went unconditional last Monday and settlement is due for
March 20. We already have renovation plans in mind, but needed
to speak to Terry (Structural Engineer) regarding whether we could remove some walls (unsure if
they were load bearing).
