Ant caps cut

This is not the way to protect your house.  The ant caps have been compromised by cutting them back to accommodate the infill battens to the under side of the house.  This enables the termites easy access, with little or no chance of detection, into your home.
Unfortunately this is something that building and pest inspectors see all too often.
