Movement crack

Pre-purchase house inspection.
Ground movement has caused a major defect in that the cracking to the mortar between the  bricks is wide enough to put a pen into the gap.
The building inspector recommended a structural engineer to assess and advise on rectification to be carried out in order to avoid further deterioration of the property.
The structural engineer's advice on rectification and costing was taken into the decisions on whether to purchase this property or not.
