Rule for Trees

Tree too close to house
As a rule of thumb the planting distance for a tree is 1 1/2 times the height of the mature tree away from the building. eg, A 5metre tree will need to be 7.5 metres away.
Our building inspector sees a lot of trees planted close enough to the home to be of a concern if they fell during a storm or high wind.
We also find them growing through the power lines.  The building inspector will recommend contacting Energex to remove the branches from the power lines for safety.
