Building Inspectors
This is Ray.
Typical baby boomer kid who grew up chewing lead paint in the cot and jumping off asbestos roofs, and wearing hand me downs until end of High school because of older brothers.
Didn't really wear shoes unless it was a special family day and we made things like billy carts and tree houses out of scrap packing cases by the age of ten.
Loved Meccano sets and anything that challenged the logical engineering instincts in a young mans brain.
Did a 5 year carpentry apprenticeship at age 15 and actually learned the skills of bricklayers. carpenters, plasterers, plumbers, tilers, concretors and painters through constant exposure to these tradies throughout the apprenticeship. In those days you did what ever was required in all areas related to the building project from the start to the finish.
As you learnt and mastered one area, your responsibility was increased and you learnt a new set of skills.
This was the age when everything was hand cut and fitted- No drop saws or electrical drills.
Building companies employed all these people, very few subbies at that stage.
I was lucky to be mentored by some really great builders that passed on their own special skills and values.
They taught good old school values like honesty, integrity and to be adaptable, dependable, courteous and positive.
With over 30 years in the building industry doing the physical construction and material handling, father time and a crook back have decided that it is time to give something back to the community.
Experience is the key to be a good
Building Inspector
as it is with brain surgery or any other skill that has been honed by diligent practice and a thirst for learning.
Having three married daughters who have gone their own way, and have all purchased the great Australian Dream Home, I fully understand the anxiety and uncertainty during this process.
Our reporting has been specifically developed towards clients who have no building knowledge, and need extra guidance through this very important phase in their lives.
